LOS ANGELES, January 12, 2012: It was a great start to Awards season Wednesday night with the 2012 People's Choice Awards.  Host Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) was extremely witty and was on-time and on-message with her punch lines.  Celebrities were honoured with awards for being the best in movies, music, and television, as designated by you, the people.

Toronto native and star of The Vampire Diaires, Nina Dobrev, picked up the People's Choice Award for "Favourite TV Drama Actress".  It was a proud moment for TDot TV as we've been closely tracking her career since we first interviewed her as a cast member of the iconic TV series Degrassi in 2008.  Another Canadian, Nathan Fillion, won the "Favourite TV Drama Actor" award for his role as Richard Castle in the hit ABC series Castle, which picked up the award for "Favourite TV Crime Drama".

The charming Emma Stone was awarded with the "Favourite Movie Actress" award and offered this piece of advice: "Stay true to who you are and what you love to do"

Johnny Depp was deemed the "Favourite Movie Actor" with Hugh Jackman taking the award for "Favourite Action Movie Star".

Acting legend Morgan Freeman recieved the "Favourite Movie Icon" honour for the first time, beating out other Hollywood elite such as Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Robert DeNiro.  He made an emotional acceptance speech that will be remembered for some time to come:  "To all of you who were kind enough to vote for me, I hope I represent a working actor who is forever grateful for this honour."

Adam Sandler took home the "Favourite Comedic Movie Actor" and even took the time to thank his school Art Teacher: "Thanks to my Art Teacher, Ms. Never Wore a Bra"

The loveable Betty White had this to say in response to the applause for her upcoming 90th birthday: "Thank you with all my heart, but I really didn't do anything...90 just happens."
